Ed Braun purchased Ed Banta's variety store in 1972. In 1973 he added 2500 square feet more on teh bakc of the store and combined with Smyrna Card & News Shoppe from teh four corners. In 1974 he purchased Joe's Delicatessen across the street and opened Donwtown Smyrna's only coffe, lunch, sub and pizza parlor. The combined operatios, known as SSCANS is open every day but Christmas to serve teh residents fo the surroundign Smyrna-Clayton area.
