| Transcript | Mustard House, 204 W. Mt. Vernon Street, Smyrna, Delaware. Built in the 1760's by Samuel Ball, a merchant from Philadelphia. Originally a farm house. Housed soldiers during the War of the Revolution, adn served as a dormitory for young ladies attending Smyrna's school nearby. Home for many years of John Mustard who operated the Peterson and Mustard Tannery located behind the house. Was also part of the "underground railroad" for slaves escaping from the South during the Civil War. |
