Description	A quantitative study was conducted to determine whether the elimination of constructed response questions from the Maryland Algebra/Data Analysis High School Assessment (HSA) adversely affected students' mean scale scores. The scale scores of 656 students who tested using paper and pencil in 2007 and 2008 (the last two years when constructed response questions were included on the HSA) were compared with the scale scores of 736 students who tested using paper and pencil in 2009 and 2010 (the first two years when constructed response questions were excluded from the HSA). Descriptive statistics were used to analyze and describe the results. Multiple Independent Samples T Tests were run to determine if the statistical difference in the mean scale scores.
